It is a
citizenship and leadership training Club, a field arm of the Citizenship and
Leadership Training Centre, Nigeria, hereinafter referred to as the Centre.
AIMS AND
OBJECTIVES
The strength of a nation lies not in its
army of soldiers but in its men of morals. A few such will suffice to awaken
the real characters of the people by sheer force of their example. And what is
stronger than character. What we want is a religion that forms men! We need
men! Men with courage of iron and nerves of steel. That succinctly put is the
goal of Man O’ War Club, FUTA. We shall, as we strive to build the man who will
build the community, seek:
(a) To
encourage in him efficiency of effort; enthusiasm in effort and endurance of
effort.
(b) To
instill in members the sense of responsibility, sense of belonging,
self-reliance and mutual self-help.
(c) To
introduce undergraduates to the prerequisites of the National Youth Service
Corps Schemes or any other youth program in vogue.
(d) To
promote friendly relations among members of the University community.
(e) To
breed fearless exponents of truth, people who will never compromise with evil,
injustice and falsehood.
(f)
To
project the good image of this University in particular and to encourage
patriots to contribute their quota individually and collectively in the
establishment of a community where no man is oppressed and everybody is his
brother’s keeper.
